When a Client contacts Shetland Wind Power with a Sales Enquiry as you would expect from Engineers we have a tried and tested approach to ensure that you get a finished installation which meets all your needs.
Site Assessment
Our Site Assessment takes into account factors such as premises size, energy requirements, physical site characteristics and the level of expenditure which meets the clients budget commitment. Our Site Assessment informs our work in drawing up recommendations for the Client’s consideration.
Planning Applications
When a Project Specification is agreed with the Client we provided a tried and tested planning pack together with comprehensive information on the proposed turbine. A pre-planning enquiry involves a visit to the local planning department supported by noise data, O.S. site location information. A formal planning application is then made taking into account feed back from the planning department.
Grant Applications
Once the Planning application is approved we assist the client apply for grants from the appropriate sources which include the Energy savings Trust, Low Carbon Buildings Programme, Scottish Community and Householder Renewables initiative. Site Works & System Installation The installation of a wind turbine involves a number of key elements;
Where a system is to be connected to the grid we conduct a pre-connection notification with the local electrical company, and then establish a physical connection.
Claiming ROCS
When a grid connected system is installed a Buy and Sell Back agreement is made with the a licensed energy supplier, and the client receives a utility number to use in an Accreditation Certificate. As an accredited supplier a Renewable Obligation Certificate is awarded for every megawatt of energy generated. The ROCS can be sold at the end of each year to any willing customer.
